Cheap consumer products event organized in Bangkok

BANGKOK, April 28 (TNA) - The Thai government, through the Ministry of Commerce and allied agencies, organizes a cheap consumer products fair in Bangkok during April 28-May 2, marking the International Labor Day 2017, aimed mainly to relieve the burden of rising costs of living for the public, especially workers in the capital. Deputy Commerce Minister Sonthirat Sonthijirawong told journalists on Friday that the five-day "blue flag" cheap goods event, held at Hua Mak Indoor Stadium in the capital's Bang Kapi area, are jointly organized by his ministry's Department of Internal Trade, as well as the Ministry of Labor, the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) and employees' organizations during 9am-9pm daily. Sonthirat said the ongoing five-day event, in which consumer goods cheaper than their market prices by 15-40 per cent are offered, is expected to attract at least 60,000 visitors who could, thus, save their costs of living by about 20 million baht totally. The deputy minister noted that the ongoing "blue flag" sale event is also aimed to boost consumers' purchasing power and producers' income, which will help stimulate the national economic growth. Besides, the cheap goods event is aimed to reduce disparity in the Thai society, especially for workers who are a major force driving the national economy towards the Thailand 4.0 era. (TNA)
