China eyes more business opportunities in Thailand

BANGKOK, September 5 (TNA) - China is exploring more trade and investment cooperation with Thailand under Beijing's Belt and Road Initiative, while the Thai Ministry of Industry is seeking increased cooperation between Chinese and ThaI small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Thai Industry Minister Atchaka Sibunruang told journalists of the information on Monday, after meeting with a visiting delegation of the China Economic Cooperation Center (CECC), led by CECC Vice President Wu Baocai, in Bangkok earlier in the day. Atchaka noted that the visiting CECC delegation wanted to learn on Thailand's concrete cooperation policy on trade and investment, while she proposed on expanded cooperation between Chinese and Thai SMEs. Recognising potential and advance technologies of Chinese SMEs, the minister said she invited Chinese business operators to expand their investment into 10 targeted industries supported by the Thai government under its new S Curve initiative and facilitated by spanning infrastructure networks in the country. The visiting vice CECC president told reporters, meanwhile, that his delegation's trip to Thailand this week is aimed to explore ways for more economic cooperation with the Thai Kingdom under China's Belt and Road Initiative to further strengthen bilateral ties and cooperation between Beijing and Bangkok. The Belt and Road Initiative refers to the Silk Road Economic Belt and 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, a significant development strategy introduced by the Chinese government, aimed at promoting economic cooperation among countries along the Belt and Road routes.
