China to hold pageant training camp in Thailand

BANGKOK, June 30 (TNA) - The state-run Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has agreed to join forces with the pageant organising committee of the Miss Universe China 2016 to set up a training camp in Thailand for finalists of this year's Miss Universe China contest. Thai Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak, who oversees economic affairs and is leading his delegation to visit China during June 26-30 for a business mission, witnessed the signing of the agreement between the pageant organising committee of the Miss Universe China 2016 and TAT in Shanghai on June 29. Under the agreement, the training camp will be held in Thailand from late October until early November, when the Miss Universe China 2016 organising committee will lead 16 finalists of the pageant, along with Miss Universe China 2015 and other staff of its 40-member team to hold activities in three renowned Thai tourist destinations, including Chiang Mai in the Thai North, Pattaya City in the Thai East and Bangkok. During the one-week training in Thailand, the Chinese beauty queens and other staff members will have a chance to learn more about the Thai culture and gain new experiences on the Thai Kingdom's impressive identities, along with participating in interesting activities, namely social charity, environmental conservation programmes and fashion shows. The contestants' activities during their stay in Thailand will be publicised online via the pageant organising committee's various social media channels and websites, as well as offline in the Miss Universe China Magazine and general magazines and newspapers in China, through which Thailand's image as a quality leisure destination will be publicised to more than 500 million viewers in China and other areas worldwide.
