CNG Consumption Up 1400 Fold In A Decade

Tehran, Sept 20, IRNA – Managing Director of Iran Fuel Conservation Company says CNG consumption in public transportation sector has gradually increased from about 5 million cubic meters in 2002 to about 7 billion cubic meters in 2012, experiencing an increase of 1400 fold within 10 years. Nosratollah Seifi said CNG consumption started in Iran’s public transportation in 2000 and gradually increased from five million cubic meters in 2002 to about 7 billion cubic meters in 2012. Noting that currently Iran stands in the first place in the world with about 3.3 million vehicles with two fuel system, he said in the meantime Iran is not even among the first 10 world countries with regard to the number of CNG stations. He pointed to the advantages of using CNG and said considerable drop in gasoline consumption and getting closer to real gasoline prices are among the most important achievements in CNG consumption./end
