Commerce authorities optimistic about Thai exports

BANGKOK, May 27 (TNA) - The Ministry of Commerce sees a bright prospect for Thai exports, as Thai commercial attaches are explaining the updated situation in Thailand to trading partners overseas. Nantawan Sakuntanaga, Director-General of the ministry's Department of International Trade Promotion, told journalists of the positive outlook on Tuesday, pointing out that a Commerce Ministry honorary trade advisor (HTA) overseeing North America has suggested that Thai products and services have sound export potential in the United States and Canada, thanks to their quality and safety and Thailand should, thus, actively conduct marketing campaigns in North America. Nantawan acknowledged that the HTA also recommended that Thai fashion products are popular in Houston of the US Texas State, where organic Thai food products, as well as tourist and medical services also have bright prospects. Besides, an HTA supervising China has viewed that Thai products are warmly welcome in the immense Chinese market, especially for food safety, and Thai products should, therefore, be further promoted in China. According to the senior Thai official, the Thai HTA also noted that authorities of China's Nanning City are persuading Thai business operators to invest in the Guangzi Zhuang Autonomous Region, while Macao is importing more Thai food products to serve its growing demand to serve locals and international visitors and Thailand should, thus, grasp the good opportunity. The senior official said Thai commerce authorities have also viewed that Thailand's free trade talks with Turkey and Pakistan should also increase the value of Thai exports. The senior official revealed Thai commercial attaches have been, meanwhile, instructed to quickly inform trading partners overseas that the ongoing national administrative control by the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) has no impacts on the country's international trade policy, as national production and exports have continued as usual and Thailand can steadily serve buyers' orders.
