Commerce Ministry gives green light to 38 foreign business projects

BANGKOK, September 21 (TNA) -- The Department of Business Development (DBD) under the Commerce Ministry has approved the projects of 38 foreign operators with planned investment worth nearly 1.5 billion baht and jobs for more than 2,000 people. DBD director-general Pongpan Jiarawiriyapan said that on Sept 16 the Foreign Business Committee gave the approval for the 38 operators, 21 of whom were newcomers. Their projects cover combined investment of 1,498 million baht and will result in the employment of 2,349 people. The number of endorsed business projects in September 2015 increases from the figure of last month by nine projects, or 31%. Investment falls by 237 million baht or 14%. Year-on-year the number of projects drops by 14 projects or 27% and investment decreases by 42,360 million baht or 97% because in September 2014 approved business projects concerned commercial banks and financial services including credit cards and factoring which required high investment. From January to September 2015 the committee approved 309 foreign business projects with total investment of 11.82 billion baht. Year-on-year the number of projects falls by for projects or 1% and investment drops by 46,257 million baht or 80%. (TNA)
