Commerce Ministry to improve Thailand's Ease of Doing Business Index

BANGKOK, Oct 10 (TNA) -- Thailand’s Commerce Ministry is ready to adjust its services to facilitate operators to do their businesses in Thailand in accordance with the private sector's proposals, said Pongpun Gearaviriyapun, director-general of Commerce Ministry’s Business Development Department. Ms Pongpun said Deputy Commerce Minister Suvit Maesincee recently held a meeting with senior government officials and representatives of the private sector and discussed on the measures to improve the Thai ranking in the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business index. She said the private sector has request the government to adjust its services in order to faciliate businessmen in performing their businesses easier and quicker. According to Ms Pongpun, the ministry is prepared to improve its services as proposed by the private sector and the latter is willing to launch public relations campaigns for the business entrepreneurs so that they could follow the guidelines. She said quicker services by the Commerce Ministry would eventually upgrade the country's Ease of Doing Business Index, organised by the World Bank. She added that the improved ranking could induce foreign investors to invest more in the kingdom and to also boost the country’s competitiveness. (TNA)
