Commerce Ministry promotes online trading for SMEs

BANGKOK, Nov 7 (TNA) -- The Business Development and the International Trade Promotion departments under the Commerce Ministry have jointly encouraged small and medium-sized entreprises (SMEs) to engage in online trading, said Commerce Minister Apiradi Tantraporn. Projecting that this year’s global trading would fetch 1.77 trillion US dollars, Ms Apiradi said both agencies have prepared a project called Smart Online SMEs (SOS) which would enable SME operators to start business and finally export their products. She said more than 3,000 SMEs would be promoted to involve in online trading of which some 1,000 of them have sufficient potential for export in 2016, said Ms Apiradi. Knowledge in online trading is expected to be given to more than 15,000 SME operators within three years while a minimum of 100,000 operators are projected to enter the online trading, she said. It is projected that SMEs could earn a minimum of 10 billion baht within three years through an online trading, she said. Those interested are able to take a training throughout the year through websites of the ministry and those two departments. (TNA)
