Commercial envoys assigned to explore Thailand's new export markets

BANGKOK, February 8 (TNA) - Thailand's commercial envoys stationed overseas have been assigned to explore new markets for Thai products in order to boost the country's export growth to about 8 per cent year-on-year in 2019 as officially targeted. Thai Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak, who oversees economic affairs, told journalists on Friday, after holding a meeting with executives of the Ministry of Commerce, that he has asked the Director General of the ministry's Department of International Trade Promotion, Banjongjitt Angsusingh, to discuss with Thai commercial envoys stationed in global economies on measures to further increase Thai exports in their respective areas, including exploring new markets for Thai exports. According to the Thai deputy premier, his proposed move is aimed to help boost the country's export growth in 2019 by about 8 per cent year-on-year as targeted by the Ministry of Commerce. The deputy prime minister said that he believed if all relevant parties work together closely with the country's commercial envoys overseas, Thailand's exports should grow by about 8 per cent year-on-year in 2019 as officially targeted.
