Completion Of Refining Projects Will Make Iran Needless Of Gasoline Imports

Tehran, Sept 20, IRNA – Managing Director of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) says completion of plans for four million liters increase in gasoline production capacity of Abadan and Bandar Abbas refineries will make the country needless of importing the product. Abbas Kazemi said in the first five months of the current year an average 4.5 million liters of gasoline was imported on daily basis, expressing the hope that with an increase of 4 million liters in the production capacity of Abadan and Bandar Abbas refineries self-sufficiency in gasoline production would be achieved prior to the operation of the first phase of Setareh Khalij Fars (Persian Gulf Star) refinery (also in Bandar Abbas). The official further remarked that with the completion of the third phase of Abadan refinery this year, production capacity will increase from the present 10.1 million liters to 12.5 million liters per day. With the operation of refining projects in the country by the next year, gasoline production will increase from the present 62.8 million liters to 68.3 million liters per day, Kazemi said.
