Conference ‘Iran-Brazil: Opportunities For Joint Investments’ Held In Tehran

Tehran, Oct 2, IRNA – A day-long conference titled ‘‘Iran-Brazil: Opportunities for Joint Investments”, sponsored by Iran-Brazil Friendship Society was held here Monday. The Iranian head of the Iran-Brazil Friendship Society Mir-Qassem Mo’meni said in an exclusive interview with IRNA, that "the conference was held aimed at surveying the ways for expansion of economic and commercial relations between the two countries.” The head of the Iran-Brazil Friendship Society believed that the conference could identify the huge Brazilian market’s demands for importing Iranian made goods. He further reiterated, “Brazil is the fifth greatest economy in the world and plays a major and most fundamental role in world trade, and that important point is the reason why some economic and strategic needs of Iran are provided from Brazil.” He said, “Keeping in mind both countries’ interest and enthusiasm in expansion of economic ties, the Iran-Brazil Friendship Society can today play a pivotal role at this particular point of time.” Mo’meni further noted, “The co-sponsors of this conference are the Tehran Chamber of Commerce and the Iran-Brazil Friendship Society and this society aims at establishing the Iran-Brazil Commerce Center in collaboration with the other concerned economic centers. Mo’meni referred to the noticeable attention paid to the day-long conference, saying, “This day-long event was held in the presence of 200 merchants and businesspersons of the two countries, the officials of the two countries chambers of commerce, the officials of the Iran Exports Promotion Center, five former Iranian ambassadors to Brasilia, and the Ambassador of Brazil to Tehran. The head of the Iran-Brazil Friendship Association added, “The main goal for holding this conference is better recognition of the hidden potentials of the two countries for bilateral trade and this association would spend double-efforts aimed at achieving the pre-determined objectives.” Mo’meni ended his comments informing IRNA that in accordance with the arrangements made, as of Tuesday October the 2nd, the Iranian and the Brazilian merchants would hold four days of expert talks here in Tehran.” Iran-Brazil relations, who are characterized by economic and diplomatic cooperation, are quite friendly. Iran has a productive trade balance with Brazil. The two governments signed a document to bolster cooperation during the G-15 Summit in Tehran in 2010. /end
