Construction works of high-speed train to start this year as planned

BANGKOK, May 14 (TNA) -- Designs of a high-speed train between Bangkok to the northeastern province of Nakhon Ratchasima to be financed by Thailand while a technology to be supplied by China are expected to complete this July while construction works to start later, said Transport Minister Arkhom Termpittyapaisith. Mr Arkhom’s remarks were made following a meeting held Wednesday and Thursday in the Chinese capital of Beijing. The working committee of both countries will hold a meeting to discuss an earlier proposal from the Thai government for the Beijing government to consider lower construction costs, he said. Answer to the proposal is expected to be given by the Chinese officials within a week, said Mr Arkhom. He said the Thai government will select construction workers while the Chinese government will conduct study in details, expected to complete this July. The Thai Finance Ministry will be assigned to consider lending sources, said Mr Arkhom. (TNA)
