Cross border trade set at 1.8 trillion baht in 2017

BANGKOK, June 4 (TNA) - Thailand’s cross border trade this year is set at 1.8 trillion baht, said Commerce Minister Apiradi Tantraporn. She said commerce officials at border provinces have been ordered to boost trade and investment with neighbouring countries, especially giving export opportunities to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and businessmen in their provinces. They are ordered to focus on Cambodian, Lao, Vietnamese and Myanmar markets because Thai products gain popularity in these countries. Trade representatives from both public and private in five provinces in the lower North plan a five-day visit to three Myanmar cities in July after some Thai businessmen in other provinces, bordering with neighbouring countries successfully expanded trade opportunities in their earlier visits to Cambodia’s Phanom Pehn and Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh city.
