D-8 Ministerial Meet Starts In Dhaka In Iran Minister's Presence

Tehran, Oct 10, IRNA – The third ministerial meeting of the Developing Eight Countries (D-8) kicked off in the Bangladeshi capital on Wednesday attended by Iran's Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mehdi Ghazanfari. The D-8 is a development cooperation forum consisting of Iran, Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan and Turkey. During his stay in Dhaka, Ghazanfari is to hold separate talks with a number of his counterparts from the D-8 states and also address the meeting. The first ministerial meeting of the D-8 was held in the Iranian capital, Tehran, in 2010 while the second meeting was held one year later in Istanbul, Turkey. The D-8 has been established with the purpose of promoting economic cooperation among the developing Islamic countries. It also aims at increasing the influence of the group on the global markets. The industrial and trade ministers of the Islamic developing countries believe that promotion of cooperation among the D-8 states will bring significant success./end
