Danish delegation meets Thai industry minister

BANGKOK, February 23 (TNA) - A Danish business delegation has met Thai Industry Ministry Chakramon Pasukvanich to discuss investment and flood prevention plans in Thailand. Chakramon welcomed the Danish business delegation, led by Danish Ambassador to Thailand Mikael Hemniti Winther and comprising executives of ECCO Tennery (Thailand) Co., Ltd., at the Ministry of Industry in Bangkok on Monday. The Danish top envoy said the Danish investors want to be 100 per cent sure that the Thai government has a most-efficient flood prevention plan which will completely avert any flooding from reoccurring, after a flooding crisis hit the country in late 2011. The Danish business delegation revealed that, apart from ECCO Tannery, there are over 100 Danish factories situated in Thailand and each factory possesses hi-tech multi-billion equipment that need to be protected from a flood, prompting the Danish ambassador and the business delegation to seek a guarantee of flood prevention from the Thai government. The ambassador also voiced that Denmark is interested in the establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) by the end of this year, but saying an expansion of investment projects by Danish investors in Thailand depends on their full confidence in Thailand's flood prevention plan.
