Deputy minister: Azerbaijan aimed at changing trade turnover structure with EU

Azerbaijan, Baku, Sept. 12 / Trend H. Valiyev / The European companies play an important role and are actively involved in the development of the Azerbaijani economy, Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Economic Development Sevinc Hasanova told media on Wednesday. "Over 1,200 European companies operating in various sectors of the economy, including construction, industry, alternative energy, trade, banking, agriculture have been registered in Azerbaijan for the last 10 years," she said. Azerbaijan successfully adopts advanced the European experience in these spheres, by using the latest technologies and know-how in different sectors of the economy. "Our vision of the future, stipulated in the "Azerbaijan 2020: vision into the future" concept is the development of non-oil sector," she said. "In this regard, the tasks were set to determine and to enter new markets. From this point of view, the European market is a very important market for us." Currently, about 45 percent of Azerbaijan's trade turnover falls to the European countries. According to her, the EU is Azerbaijan's strategic trade partner. "Of course, oil products have an advantage in the trade turnover structure," she added. "According to our strategy, the economy is being diversified.
