Deputy Prime Minister Inaugurates "Made in China" Expo

Doha, November 15 (QNA) - Under the patronage of HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Thani, HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud inaugurated "Made in China" expo at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center on Tuesday. Accompanied by HE Governor of Qatar Central Bank (QCB) Sheikh Abdullah bin Saud Al-Thani and Chairman of Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI) Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Thani, HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs toured the pavilions of the second "Made in China" expo which showcases products of more than 200 Chinese companies. In a press statement after the inauguration, HE Al Mahmoud stressed the depth of relations between Qatar and China, describing them as "very important and strategic in all fields, including political, economic or commercial domains. The importance of this exhibition stems from the fact that it will greatly help increase trade between the two countries, His Excellency said, while noting the two countries' willingness to bring this trade up to the level that both parties aspire to. The objective of organizing the exhibition, he said, is to develop economic and trade relations between Qatar and China both in the public and private sectors, stressing that Qatar encourages the two sectors to work and create relations and direct contacts between businessmen of the two sides. HE Al Mahmoud added that the exhibition introduces the Qatari private sector to Chinese products, underlining government support for this sector which stems from its strategy endorsed by HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. The vision is clear and it supports the private sector to be a key element in Qatar's development plan, in a way that helps in stimulating trade exchange, he said. This year's edition of "Made in China" exhibition is held with the participation of 200 Chinese companies from different sectors and it is held after the first expo was held in December last year and saw the participation of some 100 Chinese companies, said HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs. His Excellency pointed out that this year "Made in China" expo has another important add in terms of heritage and civilization as it coincides with Qatar China 2016 Year of Culture and it includes a Bazaar to display Qatari and Chinese heritage and handicraft industries. The second edition of the "Made in China" exhibition is co-organized by Qatar Chamber and China International Center for Economic and Technical Exchanges of the Ministry of Commerce with the participation of more than 200 Chinese companies. The four-day exhibition aims to promote quality Chinese products and contributes to cementing economic and trade ties between Qatar and China. The 2nd Qatar Made in China exhibition is a trade fair and B2B/B2G exchange platform comprehensively demonstrating all countries in the Middle East and Africa "middle and high-end" products and solutions in all fields of Chinese economy. Presentations will be delivered by Qatari and Chinese institutions and bodies to inform about the projects that are being implemented in both countries. The Public Works Authority (Ashghal), Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC), Qatar Ports Management Company (MAWANI) and Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail) are giving presentations on the sidelines of the exhibition. Last year, Qatar Chamber organized the first edition of 'Made in China' with the participation of more than 100 Chinese major companies including leading enterprises in China's construction industry and superior building materials supporting facility enterprises, mainly demonstrating countries in the Middle East and Africa top-level products and services in fields of architecture, science and technology. According to Qatar Chamber, the last year expo's transactions exceeded QR45 Million. However, the second edition targets more transactions, as more space is added to the exhibition to be up to 10,000 sqm that could host the targeted 200 Chinese companies and exhibitors and provinces that did not participate in the first edition.
