DPM to lead Thai digital content team to visit Japan Feb 8-10

BANGKOK, February 6 (TNA) - Thai Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak is scheduled to lead the country's digital content team to visit Japan during February 8-10 to explore new market opportunities for the Thai industry and to create networks with the Japanese side. Chantira Yimrewat, Director-General of the Department of International Trade Promotion, under the Ministry of Commerce, told journalists of the schedule on Tuesday, noting that the Thai digital content team comprises of private business operators in the Thai digital content industry. "Deputy Prime Minister Somkid, who oversees economic affairs, will lead the Thai digital content team to visit the Fukuoka Prefecture on Japan's northern Kyushu Island in order to also present the potential of the Thai digital content industry through business activities and talks with representatives of the Fukuoka Creative Content Association", Chantira stated. According to the senior official, the Thai delegation's upcoming visit to Japan will also show that the Thai government pays attention to driving forward the Creative Economy, while representatives of the Thai private sector will have a good opportunity to join business activities and display their products at the Granada Suite Fukuoka Hotel, along with meeting and discussing with their counterparts from the Fukuoka Creative Content Association to develop their business networks and expand their markets. Besides, the Thai delegation is scheduled to visit Japanese educational institutes where digital content courses are taught, including Kyushu Sangyo University and Aso College, to share information and learn on new knowledge and technologies. The senior official projected that the total value of the Thai digital content market should exceed 26 billion baht in 2018, on top of over 24 billion baht in 2017 and about 21.68 billion baht in 2016, comprising about 3.97 billion baht in the animation sector, 1.69 billion baht in the character sector and 16.33 billion baht in the game sector.
