Drilling Rigs To Rise In Yadavaran Oil field If Needed

Tehran, July 22, IRNA -- Number of drilling rigs in Yadavaran oil field will rise if necessary from present four. The Yadavaran oil field lies 70 kms southwest of Ahvaz and north of Khorramshahr on Iran-Iraq border. It is a field shared with Iraq pumping 20,000 bpd at the primary stage of exploitation. Meanwhile, Managing director of Arvandan Oil and Gas Company, Salbali Karimi, said that the oil field is currently pumping 16,000 bpd. In order to raise oil production to 20,000 bpd, eight wells have been drilled, according to Shana. Yadavaran oil field is located 70 kilometers southwest of Ahvaz city near the border with Iraq. Development plan of the field includes three phases in which oil production will rise to 85.000, 180.000 and 300.000 bpd in first, second and third phases respectively. In place oil reserves of the field is estimated at 12 billion barrels while the volume of associated gas reserves at 12.5 trillion cubic feet and gas condensate reserves at 1.9 billion barrels. Also it is forecast 2.7 trillion cubic meters of gas and 397 million barrels of gas condensate could be recovered from the field which comprises of three layers. Development contract of the field was signed between Iranian company Petroleum Engineering and Development Company and Sinopec from China in 2007. The Chinese company started development work in 2009 and succeeded to bring the field on stream in a 16 month period./end
