Drop In Gasoline Imports

Tehran, Sept 17, IRNA – An official at the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) announced a 2-million liter increase in domestic gasoline production by the next two months and said since the beginning of the current calendar year (March 21) up to now an average 4.7 million liters of gasoline has been imported on daily basis. Shahrokh Khorasani, NIORDC Deputy Managing Director, further remarked that gasoline import was expected to amount to 10 million liters per day for the current year but the figure has reduced to about 4.7 million liters in the light of proper management and increase in production capacity of refineries in the country. Khosravani said that some 3.5 million liters has been added to the gasoline production this year as compared to the previous year, adding that up to the next two months another 2 million liters would be added to the production capacity of Abadan Refinery. At the start of the work of the 11th government daily gasoline production stood at 51.1 million liters per day but after a year the figure increased to over 60 million liters. During the past year, an average 8.2 million liters of Euro 4 type of gasoline was produced in the country per day./end
