EAEU does not support reducing duty-free threshold of e-commerce to 150 euro - First Deputy Economic Development Minister Likhachev

PHNOM PENH, November 24. /TASS/. The proposals of the Eurasian Economic Commission to reduce the duty-free threshold of e-commerce from 1,000 euro to 150 euro did not find support among the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), First Deputy Economic Development Minister Alexey Likhachev told journalists Tuesday. "As a result of yesterday's meeting the decision had not been made. The issue probably will be reviewed again on December 2 in the presence of First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov. The proposal of the Eurasian Economic Commission experts found no support of any party," Likhachev said. The Russian Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications is also against a one-time reduction of the duty-free threshold of e-commerce from the current 1,000 euro to 150 euro, and also does not support the proposal to introduce a fixed payment for online purchases, Head of the Ministry Nikolai Nikiforov said earlier.
