Economic delegation from Iraq’s Diyala arrives in Qasr-e Shirin

Qasr-e Shirin, Kermanshah Prov., Nov 18, IRNA – An economic delegation headed by Mohammad Marouf Hossien, Governor of Balad Ruz city in Iraq’s Diyala Province arrived in Qasre-Shirin through Khosravi border and was officially welcomed by governors of Qasr-e Shirin and Gilan-e Gharb. The delegation had a brief session with Faramarz Akbari, Governor of Gilan-e Gharb, at Khosravi terminal and discussed about programs of the Iraqi delegation’s visit to Kermanshah and the process of trade transactions through Sumar border market. Akbari said the Iraqi delegation in addition to participating in specialized sessions with members of Kermanshah Chamber of Commerce and visit with governor general of the province will inspect production centers of the province in order to start trade exchanges through Sumar marketplace upon their return to Iraq. He expressed hope that Sumar border market in line with government targets for development of non-oil exports can play a proper role in economic prosperity of the country and the region. Also speaking, governor of Balad Ruz hoped that during the visit with the realization of predicted agreements, grounds will be prepared for trade transactions and economic boom in the two provinces of Diyali and Kermanshah through Sumar border market. He said it is forecast that after conclusion of the visit of the Iraqi delegation and maximum after one week trade transactions will be launched between the two sides through Sumar. Meanwhile, Afshin Rezaei, Governor of Qasr-e Shirin said: “We are prepared to put our experience about Parviz Khan border marketplace at the disposal of Iraqi and Iranian tradesmen for further dynamism of Sumar border market.” He expressed hope that reopening of Sumar border market will be effective in the development of trade and economic boom of the region more than ever. Also, Sami Hami, head of the Chamber of Commerce of Diyali Province of Iraq said presently foodstuff and medical equipment are urgent needs of Iraq. He also called for a permanent exhibition of Iranian commodities in Diyali and noted that undoubtedly reopening of Sumar border will greatly affect economic development of the two countries, Iraq in particular.
