Economic forum starts to restore trust in Mongolia

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On April 2, the Mongolian Economic Forum-2015 began at the State House under a theme "Mutual trust". The Prime Minister Ch.Saikhanbileg gave the opening remarks. He said this year’s theme was chosen on an intention to remind that establishing a mutual trust is a priority in today’s economic situation. Trust is the very foundation of mutually beneficial cooperation, he noted, "I do not doubt that Mongolia with its enormous natural resources and friendly people will attract investments. It is a trust which we need in forwarding the underground mining project at Oyu Tolgoi. We are not opponents, but partners. I am confident that good results will come thanks to such a change in perspective," he sai. He also mentioned that the Government negotiations with the investor-consortium for Tavan Tolgoi is being concluded at the time being. Following the Oyu Tolgoi project, Mongolia will draw interests of countless investors to the projects on Tavan Togloi operations, new railroad building, the Fifth Thermal Power Station, the Eg River hydro power plant, power plants at Baganuur, Booroljuut, Shivee-Ovoo and Tavan Tolgoi, as well as on new factories, highways, housing districts, said Mr Saikhanbileg and expressed a confidence that the investors’ trust in Mongolia will revive completely. Thursday’s plenary session of the economic forum is continuing under a "Current macroeconomic status of Mongolia" topic. Sub-conferences will run dedicated to such themes as "Institutional governance and cooperation", "Climate change and social-economic development" and "Information ethics". The Forum will conclude on Friday.
