Economists speak at "US-Azerbaijan Relations: Vision for Future” convention

Washington, May 1 (AzerTAc). A panel “Azerbaijan-Growing Economy: Energy and Beyond” moderated by Joshua Walker, Transatlantic Fellow, German Marshall Fund of the United States, was held as part of the "US-Azerbaijan Relations: Vision for Future” convention. Speakers included Julia Nesheiwat, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Implementation, Bureau of Energy Resources, Jonathan Elkind, Acting Assistant Secretary for the Office of International Affairs, US Department of Energy, Bryan M Lopp, Director, International Operations and Policy, Government Operations, The Boeing Company, Inam Karimov, Chairman of State Agency for Public Services and Social Innovations (ASAN) under President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Nargiz Nasrullayeva-Muduroglu, Executive Director, AmCham Azerbaijan. Nesheiwat highlighted Azerbaijan’s role in ensuring energy security of Europe. Elkind underlined the importance of energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and the USA, saying that over 2,500 tankers with Azerbaijani oil were dispatched from the port of Ceyhan. Lopp told of the development of aviation transport infrastructure in Azerbaijan, including activity of the aviation academy in Baku, Silk Way Airline`s refined network as one of the best in the post-soviet area, new terminal at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport. Lopp noted that the execution of contracts with Azerbaijan created 11,000 jobs for Americans. Karimov provided an insight into the activities of the ASAN service providing up to 150 one-shop services from 9 ministries. He noted that these services would be offered online to Azerbaijanis living abroad, including the in USA. Nasrullayeva-Muduroglu highlighted the activities of the chamber of commerce in the past 17 years. President of AzPROMO Rufat Mammadov highlighted the growth in Azerbaijan`s non-energy sector.
