Eid market operations launched in Palembang

Palembang, S Sumatra, July 12 (Antara) - The Internal Trade Directorate general of the Trade Ministry launched a meat market operation in Palembang, South Sumatra, on Sunday, ahead of Eid or Lebaran festivities next week. Internal Trade Director General Srie Agustina said the first low-priced meat market operation was launched in Palembang because meat prices in the provincial capital of South Sumatra had exceeded the average national price level. "The national average price of meat is about Rp100 thousand - Rp120 thousand per kilogram (kg). But the price in Palembang has exceeded it," Agustina said here on Sunday. She said that in the market operation, her side sold meat at Rp99 thousand per kg, which was lower than the market price. The operation is intended to stabilize meat prices. In Palembang, the operations were launched in five markets namely the Cende,Sekip Ujung, Pal 5 and Kuto Lembang markets. The directorate general released 15 tons of meat for sale in the five markets.
