Envoy Calls On Iranian Engineering Firm To Work In Tajikistan

Dushanbe, May 20, IRNA – IRI Ambassador to Tajikistan said here Sunday investments and technical-engineering services of Iranian engineering firms bear precious benefits for both countries, calling on such Iranian firms to work in Tajikistan. Ali-Asghar Sheaˈrdoust made the comment in a meeting with members of the Iranian Engineers Association in the capital city if Tajikistan, Dushanbe, adding, ˈExporting technical-engineering services is one of the most appropriate fields for our countryˈs activities in regional and international fields, and particularly I Tajikistan.ˈ He added, ˈExporting technical and engineering services in addition to accelerating the wheel of the countryˈs growth, would also lead to creating of jobs and gaining financial benefits for our country, and the countries that take advantage of these services, too would be benefited from Iranian technical and engineering expertise.ˈ He set example of the construction of Sangtoudeh 2 Dam and Power Station by an Iranian firm in Tajikistan, adding, ˈThis power station was put to use taking advantage of only one turbine, leading to decreasing the power black outs of this country during the past winter season, and that Iranian firm thus played its positive role in decreasing the living problems of Tajik people.ˈ He reiterated, ˈThis project would at the end of its engineering process which would be marked in near future while providing serious job opportunities, would also gain over tens of thousands of worker force per day and tens of thousands of million dollars of financial benefit for our country.ˈ The Islamic Republic of Iranˈs Ambassador to Dushanbe referring to Tajikistanˈs joining to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the potential capabilities of that country in terms of its rich mines and its 3rd top place in having water resources in the world, said, ˈOur countryˈs technical and engineering firms taking advantage of their precious expertise and experience can take advantage of these rich opportunities at the service of both countriesˈ interests by precise planning.ˈ He said, ˈIt would be quite fit if the engineering firms of Iran would take full advantage of these potentials, and in addition to providing job opportunities and generating financial benefits for Iran, our engineers would play their positive roles in the development and advancement of Tajikistan, whose language, culture, and religion, are the same as ours.ˈ Sheaˈrdoust considered the efforts aimed at elimination of the existing obstacles in the way of appropriate growth economic relations among the most important priorities of the Iranian foreign policy, saying, ˈPresently mammoth projects, such a the project for transferring water from Tajikistan to Iran, and exporting oil byproducts and gas derivates, as well as cooperation is construction of electrical power transfer and the other related fields, as some of the current activities of Iran in this respect.ˈ He reiterated, ˈKeeping in mind the viewpoints of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the progressive article in the Iranian Constitution based on which giving the private sector a big share of the affairs, the Iranian Engineering Association can in addition to designing, consulting, investment, and executive management of major projects in such fields as middle industries, petrochemical industries, and the entire agricultural fields in Tajikistan.ˈ He reiterated, ˈThe Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, fully believing in need for supporting the private sector in playing its important role in expansion of Iranˈs economic and industrial relations with Tajikistan, is completely ready for any type of cooperation with the Iranian Engineering Association.ˈ The Members of the IAE, too, in the meeting talked about such issues as investment security, appropriate fields for the IAE membersˈ work in Tajikistan, conducting pilot studies and proposing appropriate plans for bilateral cooperation between Iran and Tajikistan, Development Bankˈs role, and the other investor countries and organizations in Tajikistan. The Iranian economic delegation, comprised of consultant engineers of the IAEˈs Technical and Engineering Services Export Office, have come to Tajikistan to participate at the annual meeting of the Islamic Development Bank in Tajikistan. Islamic Republic of Iran Economy and Treasure Minister Shamseddin Hosseini, too, is scheduled to arrive in Dushanbe on Monday atop a delegation of involved firms to participate at the 38th Meeting of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), during whose three days of activities he would meet the IDB managing director, the Tajik officials, and the ministers of the Farsi speaking countries in different meetings. Tajiks and Iranians have been connected historically and culturally for thousands of years. Tajiks, like the majority of Iranians, are an Iranian people and speak the Persian language, which is also the official language of Iran. Tajikistan, due to historical and cultural ties with Iran and the former Iranian empires, is regarded as a part of Greater Iran. Post Arab revitalization of Persian culture began in Khorassan, the historic North-Easter Iranian province, under the Samanid dynasty. Samarqand and Bukhara flourished and became major trade, scientific and cultural hubs. Iran was the first nation to establish an embassy in Dushanbe. It was also one of the first countries to extend diplomatic recognition of the newly independent Tajikistan in 1991. Iran provided diplomatic assistance and built new mosques within Tajikistan. Due to the resurgence of Iranian culture within Tajikistan, Iran helped encourage cultural exchange through conferences, media, and film festivals. Iranian television programs, magazines, and books became increasingly common in Tajikistan./end
