Envoy Stresses Increase Of Iran-Tajikistan Trade Ties

Tehran, Sept 6, IRNA – Tajikistanˈs Ambassador to Iran Nematollah Emamzadeh on Saturday emphasized promotion of Tehran-Dushanbe trade relations. Speaking at a press conference, he voiced hope that President Hassan Rouhaniˈs upcoming visit to Tajikistan opens up a new chapter in Tehran-Dushanbe ties. The envoy stressed the promotion of economic ties between the two states adding that the visit is expected to result in the signing of a number of bilateral cooperation agreements. President Rouhani will inaugurate a railroad project and a hydroelectric power plant constructed by Iranian investors in Tajikistan during the visit, he said. He added that terrorism and extremism are threats against the world security and Tajikistan will do its best to fight these phenomena. He also called the war against terrorism and extremism one of the subjects to be raised in the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit. President Rouhani is scheduled to visit Tajikistan in September to attend the SCO summit which will take place in Dushanbe on September 12 and 13. The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is an intergovernmental organization which was founded in 2001 in Shanghai by the leaders of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. The Organization currently has six full members. Iran, Mongolia, Pakistan, and India are observer states and SCO’s dialogue partners include Belarus, Sri Lanka, and Turkey./end
