SABETTA, December 11. /TASS/. Expansion of Russia’s presence in the Arctic should not be harmful for environment, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said on Tuesday. "We should not forget about ecology when implementing projects in the Arctic zone. Our presence in the region should not do harm to environment, as it regrettably occurred before," he said. Russia is proactively expanding its presence in the Arctic zone, Medvedev noted. "This is not merely the largest resource reserve of our country. This region is of strategic importance for Russia as for the Arctic power," he said. "We are solving critical tasks here - supporting national security of our nation and its economic interests," the Prime Minister added. Read more
