Export Of First Propane Consignment To Africa

Tehran, Sept 21, IRNA – Mohammad Reza Safari Rad, deputy director of Siri NGL Refinery, said the first propane and the second butane consignments were exported to an African country from the refinery recently. He told IRNA that Siri NGL Refinery started operation in the late calendar year 1391 (2003) and enjoys the capacity of receiving 140 million cubic feet of gas feed daily. Given that the refinery is operating at half of its nominal capacity part of the required gas feed is expected to be supplied through development of Kish gas field. The official further remarked that four naphtha, pentane, butane and propane products of the Siri NGL Refinery have so far been exported out of the country. So far, 280 thousand barrels of naphtha and 106 thousand barrels of butane have been exported, earning the country $22.2 million. The Siri Island is located 72 km off the coastal line of Iran in the south of Bandar Lengeh and 40 km west of Abu Musa Island. With oil exploration in the Persian Gulf and the activity of Sufiran Oil Company in this island, oil was extracted in this area in the calendar year 1355 (1976-77). The five oil fields of Alvand, Nosrat, Dena, Sivand and Ilam are located in this oil rich region./end
