SINGAPORE, Aug 9 (Bernama) -- Happy National Day, Singapore! Any plans in mind for today’s public holiday? How about going to Singapore Expo, Changi where Malaysia Fest is back, from today till Sunday.

Malaysia’s Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) is currently offering 20 per cent off for fresh fruits at Fruits Empire, one of the sales concepts introduced at Malaysia Fest 2018.

It brings in 15 tonnes of seasonal as well as fresh fruits worth RM100,000.

On top of the best hybrid durians like Musang King and all, there’s also the top durian kampung or non-cloned durians from northern Perak including the hilly areas such as in Bukit Gantang.

“Durians from hilly areas are the best,” FAMA Corp chief executive officer, Zainal Abidin Yang Razalli told Bernama recently.

FAMA is also bringing in mangosteen, pulasan, jackfruit, rambutan and guava, along with fresh vegetables, maize and many more.

Under FAMA Pavilion alone, there are 28 entrepreneurs from the states including Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Terengganu, Johor, Melaka, Kedah, Pahang, Penang, and Kuala Lumpur, with potential sales amounting to RM2 million this time.

Malaysia Fest has been hosted for the third year by MegaXpress International Pte Ltd, with the support of FAMA. There are more booths this year, totalling 250, featuring the very best of Malaysia in terms of food, fashion, beauty, travel and culture.

“This is a good promotional and marketing avenue for products churned out by Malaysian entrepreneurs, as well as a trial platform for new products and those entrepreneurs participating in Malaysia Fest for the first time,” said MegaXpress International managing director, Hamzah Abdullah.

He is optimistic that this year’s Malaysia Fest will attract at least 100,000 visitors, like last year’s edition.

There are five sales concepts, namely States’ Pavilion, Food Trucks, Fruits Empire and Agro-based Industry Products.
