FAMA Targets 40 Perak Entrepreneurs To Market Various Products In Singapore

PARIT BUNTAR (Perak, Malaysia), Nov 17 (Bernama) -- The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama) has target for 40 agro-based industry (IAT) entrepreneurs from Perak state to market various products at its Agro Bazar in Singapore. Deputy Director Sabri Naseh said the entrepreneurs would be picked to market products such as kerepek (snacks), frozen food and flavoured drinks that have been well received in the country. "With Fama having opened the agro bazar in Singapore two years ago, many IAT products from Malaysia have penetrated the market there, "Previously, the IAT entrepreneurs faced difficulty in marketing products in Singapore as the cost of renting lots for business was very high," he added. Sabri told reporters this after the launch of the IAT Carnival by the Perak Chief Minister's Special Officer Abu Bakar Mat Ali at the Fama farmers market here Wednesday. He said to date, 23 entrepreneurs had successfully marketed their products in Singapore. The selection of a second group of IAT entrepreneurs for the Singapore market would be held on Nov 21 in Taiping. "Other than Bumiputera entrepreneurs, non-Bumiputeras will also be picked to market their products in Singapore. Fama has rented three business lots at two hypermarkets for this purpose," he added. Meanwhile, Perak Menteri Besar (Chief Minister) Dr Zambry Abd Kadir will launch the Halal Food Festival in Singapore from Dec 1-4. "We project our entrepreneurs to sell about US$45,761 (RM200,000) worth of products at the festival as demand for halal food products from Malaysia is very encouraging," he added.
