Feilo Sylvania To Make Malaysia Distribution Hub For Lighting Equipment

KUALA LUMPUR, April 1 (Bernama) -- Feilo Sylvania has picked Malaysia as its Southeast Asia hub to distribute lighting equipment, by setting up a regional office here with an initial investment of US$10 million (US$1=RM4.42). Feilo Sylvania, a full-spectrum provider of professional and architectural lighting solutions, is 80 per cent-owned by Shanghai Feilo Acoustics Co Ltd, which is principally engaged in the manufacturing and distribution of lighting equipment. General Manager for Southeast Asia Walter Hiew said the investment would come in stages as the business grows. "When our business takes off, we will invest more into our assembly line here, warehouse hub and transfer of technology," he told reporters after announcing the opening of the Feilo Sylvania (Malaysia) regional office here Friday. Hiew said due to the burgeoning demand for LED (light-emitting diode) lighting and lighting equipment, he was confident the group would be able to establish its assembly line, warehouse hub and transfer of technology within two years. Shanghai Feilo Acoustics President Zhuang Shen'an said as Southeast Asia is one of the world's fastest growing economy, the group saw a strong potential to further expand and enhance its presence here. "We chose Malaysia as our hub in Southeast Asia due to the rapid infrastructure construction in this region," he said. Zhuang said the multi-million ringgit regional office in Menara UOA II in Damansara would serve as a distribution coordination hub for Feilo Sylvania. The regional office is set to create over 100 job opportunities in Malaysia as well as other countries in Southeast Asia, he added. The company would also be able to intensify its marketing and promotional efforts in this region to encourage the usage of LED lighting in an effort to conserve the environment, said Zhuang. -- BERNAMA
