Fenestration BAU China 2017 To Provide Bigger Opportunity For Malaysian Players

By Rosemarie Khoo Mohd Sani KUALA LUMPUR, May 31 (Bernama) -- The Fenestration BAU China 2017 will provide a bigger opportunity for Malaysian fenestration industry players to showcase and promote their products. The event was acquired by Germany’s Messe München in December last year and will be held at the Shanghai New International Exhibition Centre on Nov 7-10. The company’s Senior Exhibition Manager Matthias Strauss said he aims to bring about 20-30 Malaysian players involved in the windows, doors and facades segment to the event. "This is the first Fenestration BAU China and a future-oriented business platform where decision makers, political groups, dealers and the biggest brands will be present. "We also hope to make a fruitful connection with Malaysian construction material companies and associations, mainly small and medium enterprises (SMEs), for future mid-term cooperation," he added. Strauss told Bernama this at the Info Tour for the Fenestration BAU China which is the leading trade fair for architecture, materials and systems. The briefing was organised by the Malaysian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry here Wednesday. Fenestration (architecture) refers to the design, construction or presence of openings in a building and includes windows, doors, lourves, vents, wall panels, skylights, curtain walls and sloped glazed systems. Strauss said the company acquired the event for a high double-digit million euros and plans to penetrate the huge Chinese market while competing against other competitors globally. Messe München has an existing BAU – a German word for construction – in Munich. The Fenestration BAU China will have additional segments from BAU Munich. "With a target of attracting up to 150,000 visitors compared with 80,000 at the Fenestration China last year, we are also hoping to lure more architects and developers to it. "The four-day event will have an exhibition, conferences and other concurrent events focusing on products, technologies and practical solutions in the fenestration industry, as well as innovation of business, while serving as a platform for business cooperation and information exchanges," said Strauss. Messe München’s BAU Munich event will continue to be held biennially with the next in January 2019. -- BERNAMA
