FGV Aims To Become Top Five Fast Moving Consumer Goods Player In SEA

KUALA LUMPUR, July 14 (Bernama) -- Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd (FGV), the world's third-largest palm plantation operator, is aiming to become the top five, fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) player in Southeast Asia. The company currently exports FMCG products to Myanmar, the Philippines and Vietnam, and plans to make forays into India and Nepal in the near term, said chairman Mohd Isa Samad. "We will not only focus on the existing domestic front, but also look at penetrating other overseas markets," he said when launching the group's Adela-branded vegetable oil here Saturday. Mohd Isa however, did not give any timeframe for the aspiration, but said the company is well positioned to strengthen its presence at the international level, especially in Southeast Asia with a slew of appealing offerings. Meanwhile, the newly developed vegetable oil or vanaspati, made by its unit Delima Oil Products Sdn Bhd, will be available nationwide by year-end. In addition to Adela, Delima's other brands include Saji, Sunbear, Purich and Sri Pelangi. Originating from South India, vanaspati is made of vegetable oil to mimic the aroma and flavour of pure ghee. It is widely used in the Middle East and in Indian cuisine. -- BERNAMA
