MFA Secretary-General, Mohamad Shukri Salleh, said FIM 2016 was expected to attract 12,000 visitors and 80 companies, local and foreign, which had the potential to invest in the franchise industry. "Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority will showcase its local brand serving premium specialty coffee blend, KopieSatu. "The brand is expected to receive strong demand via franchise system sales," he told Bernama here Tuesday. He said last year, FIM recorded US$96.22 million (RM379 million) in investment via the sales of 774 potential franchisees. Mohamad Shukri said FIM would be a platform to build frachise business networking, share franchise knowledge and ideas and identify franchise opportunities. "FIM is recognised by the international franchise players -- World Franchise Council and Asia Pacific Franchise Confederation -- as the biggest annual franchise exhibition in South-East Asia," he said. He said this year's international conference would feature 15 prominent members from the franchise industry, businessmen and academicians. Various sub-activities would also be held, like 'job fair' in cooperation with JobsMalaysia and barista competition to pick the best coffee maker, he said. He said to-date, 60 Malaysian franchise brands have penetrated markets in 59 countries. In Malaysia, 813 franchisors had been registered under Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism, he said. --BERNAMA
