Finance minister meets Standard Chartered, HSBC officials

Washington, Apr. 16 (BNA): Finance Minister Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa has held meetings with senior officials from the Standard Chartered and HSBC groups, on the sidelines of his participation in the spring meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, currently held here. The minister discussed with them ways to develop cooperation with the two banking groups in the financial, banking and investment fields, praising their operations in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He affirmed the government’s great interest in the financial and banking sector, being an essential pillar of the national economy, and its keenness to put in place all requirements that pave the way for banking and financial institutions to succeed and flourish. The latest global economic developments were also discussed.
