Finance Minister meets UNGA President

Washington, Apr. 18 (BNA): Finance Minister Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa met the UN General Assembly (UNGA) President former Ugandan foreign minister Sam Kutesa during the Spring meetings of the Board of Governors of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington, D.C. The minister praised the leading role of UNGA President at a time the world community is facing numerous challenges at multiple fronts, praising his constant efforts in dealing with vital matters that affect all UN-member states, focusing on the main theme of the 69th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) related to crystallization and implementation of post-2015 interim developmental goals. The minister emphasised Bahrain's great attention to the Millennium Development Goals and developmental issues in general, citing the Kingdom's upcoming hosting of the Second High-Level Arab Forum on Sustainable Development in the period May 5-7, which will be a good opportunity to concentrate on the priorities of developmental agenda in the region. The two sides asserted the importance of the Third International Conference for Sustainable Development in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, next July as a platform for the UNGA-member countries to present their visualizations of the post-2015 developmental agenda. They also discussed various current and latest regional and international developments.
