Five new industrial estates to be set up in Thailand

CHONBURI, February 8 (TNA) - Five new industrial estates will be established in two eastern Thai provinces of Chon Buri and Rayong in the coming years, with their combined investment of about 309 billion baht and at least 120,000 new jobs to be created. Permanent Secretary for Industry Witoon Simachokedee, in his capacity as Chairman of the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT), told reporters of the update, saying that the move was a resolution at a meeting of parties concerned earlier this week. Witoon noted that under the plan, the IEAT will cooperate with the private sector to set up the five new industrial estates, aimed at catering to industrial growth in Thailand and supporting the establishment of industrial estates in potential areas. According to the plan, business operators will invest, develop and provide public utilities in the five projects covering a combined area of 8,719 rai (2.5 rai = 1 acre). Out of the five projects, four will be set up in Chon Buri and the rest one in neighbouring Rayong. (TNA)
