Five Qatari SMEs Enter Pearl GTL Supply Chain

Doha, December 14 (QNA) - Five new local Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Sunday entered Pearl Gas-to-Liquids (GTL) supply chain following contractual deals with Qatar Development Bank (QDB). The bank signed five separate agreements with the SMEs in association with Pearl GTL operator Qatar Shell, QDB said today. The five Qatari SMEs received the contracts to become the supplier of choice for Pearl GTL at an event held here. The SMEs are: Mozon Industries, KEPCO, Pioneer Metal Company, Prince's Lights and Rumaillah Motors. Qatar Shell Chairman Managing Director Wael Sawan signed the contracts with the Chief Executive Officers of the five Qatari SMEs. QDB CEO Abdulaziz bin Nasser Al Khalifa witnessed the signing of contracts. Speaking at the event, Al Khalifa said, "We aim to accelerate growth of Qatars private sector. Such contracts link local SMEs to world-class companies like Shell and QP." The addition of five new Qatari SMEs to the three local suppliers announced last year demonstrates the successful partnership between Qatar Shell and QDB to bolster a robust private sector, he added. Welcoming the new SMEs, Sawan said, "The Pearl GTL family is expanding every year with more members from local private sector." We will continue to co-operate with QDB to enhance local expertise, skills and content by providing business opportunities to the local market, he added. Based in Ras Laffan, Qatar, Pearl GTL is the world's largest gas to liquids plant under a Production Sharing Agreement (PSA) between Qatar Petroleum (QP) and Shell. It produces cleaner-burning fuels by converting natural gas into liquid petroleum products. (QNA)
