Ford sees Thailand as regional hub of auto production

BANGKOK, October 27 (TNA) - US-based Ford Motor Company sees Thailand as its hub of automobile production in the region, after it has closed its plant in the Philippines, where Ford Escape vehicles had been produced. Thai Industry Minister Chakramon Phasukvanich told journalists that Ford ASEAN President Matt Bradley told him of the upbeat on Monday, after their talks in Bangkok. Chakramon stated Ford has confirmed that Thailand remains its major automobile production base in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the multinational company will expand its eco-car production in the Thai economy, with its investment fund of 606 million US dollars, or about 18 billion baht. Besides, Ford assured it will produce eco-cars under the eco-car 2 investment incentive scheme of the Thai government. (TNA)
