Foreign investment in Thailand stands at Bt6.44b in Jan-May

BANGKOK, May 22 (TNA) - The Ministry of Commerce reports that a total of 175 foreign business operators have been allowed to invest in Thailand during the first five months of this year, with their combined investment fund of 6.44 billion baht. Pongpan Jirawiriyapan, Director-General of the ministry's Department of Business Development, in her capacity as Secretary of the Foreign Business Committee, told journalists that the number of foreign businesses, which were permitted to set up in Thailand during the January-May 2015 period rose by 16 per cent year-on-year, while their combined investment fund also increased by 135 million baht, or by 2 per cent year-on-year. Most of the foreigners given the green light to run their businesses in Thailand during the first five-month period included Japanese, Singapore, Indonesian, Chinese and German business operators.
