Foreign investors chose to invest in financial sectors in Turkey

ANKARA (A.A) - Foreign investors chose to invest mostly in financial intermediary institutions in Turkey in 2011. The amount of investment made in the financial intermediary institutions by foreign investors in Turkey went up 257.5 percent between January and November, 2011 when compared to the same term a year ago and reached a value of 5.4 billion USD. According to the Turkish Central Bank, investments in real estate and leasing services by foreign investors were worth 496 million USD in 2011 in Turkey followed by investments in wholesale and retail business worth 488 million USD in the same year. Foreign investors' investments in the industrial sectors of electricity, natural gas, steam and hot water production and distribution went up 559.1 percent between January and November 2011 when compared to the same term a year ago and was worth 2.7 billion USD.
