France Willing To Invest In Iran's Southern Projects

Bandar Abbas, Hormuzgan Prov, Sept 23, IRNA – A group of French investors who visited Shahid Rajaee port in this southern province said they are interested in joining development projects of Iran's biggest trade port. Shahid Rajaee lies on the north shores of the Strait of Hormuz, about nine nautical miles (14.5 kilometers) west-southwest of the provincial capital city of Bandar Abbas. Around one hundred million tons of goods pass through Shahid Rajaee to all over the world annually. A senior official at Hormuzgan Port and Maritime Department told IRNA that officials of a French holding company held a joint meeting with senior provincial officials here and became closely familiar with existing potentials of Shahid Rajaee port which is the largest container port of Iran. Mohammad Ali Asl Saeedpour added that the French company has a long history of successful presence in joint development projects in littoral states of Western Africa and south of the Indian peninsula. He added that the visit was organized by local officials as well as the Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran. The group is also to visit Qeshm Free Trade Zone, Chahbahar Free Trade Zone and Imam Khomeini port, Saeedpour added.
