Fuji Heavy's U.S. Auto Sales Seen Hitting Record High

Tokyo, Dec. 13 (Jiji Press)--Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd.'s <7270> vehicle sales in the United States are expected to hit a record high for the ninth straight year in 2017, its president and chief executive officer, Yasuyuki Yoshinaga, has suggested in a recent interview. "I'm confident that our vehicle sales in the U.S. market will continue increasing next year," he said. His bullish comment came as the Japanese company launched a new model of its Impreza passenger car in the United States this month and the new model is likely sell well throughout next year. Fuji Heavy's monthly automobile sales in the United States have increased year on year for 60 straight months until November. Annual sales are seen exceeding 600,000 units for the first time in 2016 and reaching 670,000 units in 2017. In Japan, Fuji Heavy launched the new Impreza in October. The Impreza was named the 2016-17 Car of the Year Japan. END
