Fund Allocated For Security Of Roads

Mahabad, West Azarbaijan, Sept 21, IRNA – Deputy Roads and Urban Development Minister Davood Keshavarzian said 5 thousand billion rials have been allocated for the security of the country’s road in the current calendar year (started March 21, 2014). Inspecting Tamr Chin border terminal in Piranshahr in West Azarbaijan Province on Friday afternoon, he told reporters that 3 billion rials out of the fund have been allocated for the roads security and the remaining 2 thousand billion rials for the improvement of accident-prone areas. Keshavarzian who is the Head of the Roads Maintenance and Transportation Organization further remarked that the fund will be put at the disposal of the roads and urban development departments in provinces. He pointed to minimization to zero of the share of the roads in road accidents as one of the policies of his organization and said for controlling all the roads it has been decided to install speed cameras and so far 400 cameras have been installed. Tamr Chin border terminal, in northwest Iran and in south of West Azarbaijan Province, is located on the joint border with Iraq. /end
