Gas Price Hike Review Must Be Appreciated

Depok, W Java, Jan 6 (Antara) - Economic Observer from the University of Indonesia, UI, E Rizal Halim stated that the gas price hike review should be appreciated. "It is a form of empathy that moves people especially at the grassroots level," noted Rizal here on Monday. Rizal added that the government`s response to review the gas price hike needs to be welcomed positively and supported considering people`s living standards in 2014 is not going to be as easy as in the previous year. Rizal urges every party not to bring political interest to the issue ahead the general election this year. "The policy should not be politicized or spoofed in any political speculation; it only reflect the immaturity and poor quality of personality," Rizal noted. Rizal added that the Indonesian people require a policy that will not create further burden on their lives and in view of this, the review becomes very crucial. Rizal also commented that there is a rumor that former state officials may try to take advantage of the situation, making the situation even worse. Rizal has requested that all parties give priority to public interest and not merely to individual or group interests. "The gas price hike review must be supported to accommodate the aspirations of people, especially those who are sensitive to price changes," explained Rizal.
