Gazprom, Novatek to participate in gas projects in Morocco - energy minister

RABAT, September 21. /TASS/. Russian companies Gazprom and Novatek are ready to participate in big projects in Morocco, such as construction of regasification terminal, gas pipeline, and generating capacities, Energy Minister Alexander Novak told TASS. "Morocco plans to increase gas consumption and expand gas-based power plants. Meanwhile, the plan is to construct a regasification terminal, a gas pipeline, and 2,400 MW of generating capacities," he said. "In this respect, Russian companies Gazprom and Novatek are ready to participate in this large-scale project. Talks are underway on supplies of liquefied natural gas, particularly from Russian projects Yamal-LNG and Arctic LNG," he added. According to Novak, Russian firms may be participating in "construction of a gas pipeline, a regasification terminal and generating capacities." "In my view, this is a large-scale ambitious project, part of our cooperation with Morocco," he said, adding that "Russia has relevant competences and technologies." "It has been agreed that the talks will continue. The government of Morocco will specify the parameters of the gas project in the near future, regarding gas consumption and the commercial component," Novak added. Read more
