Gazprom to observe Third Energy Package rules when building infrastructure of Turkish Stream pipeline - Gazprom’s head Alexei Miller

BERLIN, April 13. /TASS/. Russia’s gas giant Gazprom will work within the framework of the Third Energy Package when building the infrastructure of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline, Gazprom’s head Alexei Miller said Monday. He was speaking at a conference of the Valdai club. "Gazprom will work strictly under the market rules, the rules of the Third Energy Package", he said. The company is ready to build the Turkish Stream pipeline and wait for the construction of the European infrastructure for it, Miller said. "We will start the construction (of the pipeline) as soon as we receive all the approvals", he said. On December 1st, 2014, Gazprom and Turkey’s Botas signed a memorandum of understanding on constructing an offshore gas pipeline across the Black Sea towards Turkey. The pipeline capacity will be 63 bln cubic meters. Of this volume about 50 bln cubic meters will be delivered to the new gas hub on the Greek-Turkish border. Gazprom’s subsidiary Gazprom Russkaya is in charge for the pipeline’s construction. The Turkish pipeline will become an alternative to the South Stream project Russia abandoned last year. Most of the offshore section of the new pipeline will be the same as in the abandoned South Stream project. Read more
