Gazprom to sign memorandum on gas supplies to China with CNPC on September 3 - Presidential aide Ushakov

MOSCOW, August 31. /TASS/. Russian gas giant Gazprom will sign a memorandum on gas supplies to China from Russia’s Far East with China National Petroleum Corporation /CNPC/ on September 3, Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said on Monday. "A memorandum of understanding between Gazprom and China National Petroleum Corporation on project of natural gas supplies from the Russian Federation to the People’s Republic of China via pipeline from Russia’s Far East will be signed," Ushakov said. As Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller said earlier, "this new priority area will be an important step of broadening cooperation in the natural gas sphere and deepening bilateral long-term, stable and mutually beneficial relations of cooperation." He also said the parties included this project into the joint activities program of the strategic partnership. Gazprom and CNPC are to hold a series of bilateral consultations to identify specific conditions of implementing the project of natural gas supplies by a pipeline from the Russian Far East and assess its economic feasibility. The parties refer to new extra volumes in addition to supplies over the ‘eastern’ and ‘western’ routes. Read more
