Gilan access to Caspian water prepares ground for trade development

Rasht, Gilan Prov, Jan 21, IRNA – Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh said access of Gilan Province to the Caspian Sea water and northern neighbors will prepare a proper ground for the development of foreign trade in this region. Speaking at the provincial administrative council, he added that with regard to the provincial situation and the advantage taken from the Caspian Sea, trade can become axis for economic activities of Gilan as in the past economic relations existed with countries like Russia. He termed Gilan as a province with innumerable capabilities in the field of trade and stressed that in removing bottlenecks in the province it should not be sufficient to rely on agriculture rather expansion of relations with neighbors should be put on the agenda. The minister noted that recently a meeting was held with the neighbors on development of exports, adding that those countries warmly welcomed the idea. Referring to the support of government for exports as well as private sector investment, Nematzadeh said the Caspian Sea is the largest lake of the world which has provided a good condition for the development of tourism shipping. Nematzadeh, accompanying First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri, inspected a number of development and industrial projects in the province on Tuesday.
